The first time Kathleen Colson, President and owner of African Safari Planners, got on a plane, she flew to Africa. After studies in Kenya and a number of return visits, she started African Safari Planners in 1986. Kathleen has planned and led safaris for individuals, family and friend groups, universities, film crews and special interest groups.
Kathleen is also the Executive Director of The Boma Fund, a US based non-profit organization that provides support for micro-enterprise activities in Northern Kenya (www.bomafund.org) as well as the Cows for Kids program that provides livestock for the pastoral communities devastated by the drought of 2006 (www.cowsforkids.org). Kathleen has spent many years fundraising and providing support for a number of organizations in Kenya and is closely associated with some of the country’s leading figures. She has traveled to 10 African countries, but East Africa remains for her, the essence of Africa, the cradle of civilization.
